Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has signed SB 172, the move preempts all city and county efforts to regulate over-the-counter “proprietary drugs” and cosmetics to the state effective July 1, 2020. Last year the Key West City Council passed a local law banning the sale and distribution of any SPF sunscreen protection personal care product that contains oxybenzone or octinoxate or both as of January 1, 2021.
